Edward Ashley Bowen Phelps letters and journal 1847-1848

Edward Ashley Bowen Phelps was a mounted rifleman with the rank of private in the U.S. Army during the Mexican War. The collection consists of letters written to his brother, Samuel Wright Phelps of Cincinnati, Ohio and a journal describing his army service during the Mexican War at Vera Cruz and Mexico City, his return to Jefferson Barracks, and his discharge.
